The physicians and residents of Louisiana sincerely thank all of you who have shown your support to those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and Gustave and Ike. The monetary donations, physical assistance, and thoughts and prayers have been deeply appreciated, especially by those who were hit hardest and lost jobs or homes. It is certainly reassuring that in the face of hardship, our colleagues and peers have rallied in support. Thank you!

We are committed to the same national principles:

• The practice of emergency medicine is best conducted by a specialist in emergency medicine.
• A specialist in emergency medicine is a physician who has achieved, through personal dedication and sacrifice, certification by either the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) or the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine (AOBEM).
• The personal and professional welfare of the individual specialist in emergency medicine is a primary concern to AAEMLa.
